Sincerely — your presence is present enough!
“Hobbits give presents to other people on their own birthdays. Not very expensive ones, as a rule, and not so lavishly as on this occasion; but it was not a bad system.”
- JRR Tolkien
This isn't a birthday party, but the sentiment holds true. The couple are adult people with a full complement of housewares (and not too much storage space) and wish to dispel any sense of obligation on the part of the guests.
If you insist on traditions of the Big Folk, suggestions include: quirky art, compliments for our cats, spirited rounds of board games, original musical compositions, donations to Daybreak homeless shelter in Macon, your favorite family recipe, cat-safe houseplants, craft supplies, cosplay pieces, strange cocktail ingredients, a touch of whimsy, interpretive dance (short), good whiskey, tales of your Dungeons and Dragons adventures, Star Trek trivia, general good cheer and well wishes, fireworks (but not if you're coming by airplane).
